Stephen Bryant , LCPC

Stephen Bryant is a psychotherapist specializing in child, adolescent, and adult therapy. He holds M.A.s in Clinical and Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and is pursuing a Psy.D., expected to graduate in August 2025.

Stephen began his career in addiction, where he witnessed high burnout rates among professionals, sparking his interest in addressing burnout in mental health. His clinical training spans community mental health centers, hospitals, and private practice, where he gained insights into systemic and individual factors of burnout.

Currently, Stephen works as a Doctoral Resident at Linden Oaks Behavioral Hospital and has experience in private practice, conducting therapy, psychological testing, and assessments. He also provides services for individuals with substance use disorders at The Way Back Inn and Grateful House.

Stephen is committed to exceptional patient care and is a member of multiple divisions of the American Psychological Association, as well as the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the Illinois Psychological Association, and the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers.

Stephen Bryant is a skilled psychotherapist with expertise in mood disorders, stress management, addiction, neurodevelopmental disorders, PTSD, trauma, personality disorders, grief, and interpersonal issues. He utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches, including:

Self-Psychology, Object Relations Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Gestalt Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Play Therapy.

An expert on burnout in mental health professionals, Stephen has presented his research nationally. His doctoral dissertation, “Education and Perceived Therapy Readiness Influence on Substance Use Disorder Counselors’ Burnout,” earned him the Distinguished Dissertation Award in 2024. He also won the Research Poster Presentation Award at the IPA Annual Convention and authored “Beyond Burnout: Exploring the Realities of Burnout in Mental Health Care.”

Stephen provides CE courses on burnout and addiction and holds an unrestricted license as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois.
